Proposal Management & Strategy Development
Situation: The client, a globally recognized defense contractor, sought to respond to an RFI issued by the U.S. Army’s Project Office for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (PM UAS). The RFI focused on autonomous vertical lift cargo delivery systems, a rapidly evolving technology domain critical to modern military operations. The client required expert guidance in proposal management, business development, and competitive strategy to craft a compelling and compliant response.

Collaborative Role – Artificial Intelligence Startup Company
Situation: Introducing disruptive B2B product innovations in industries like manufacturing often requires significant change management to drive adoption. The AI startup's innovative solutions promise to revolutionize production planning but to succeed in this highly competitive market, they need to prove value to early adopters while managing the complexities of change within their customers’ organizations.

Advisory Role – Private Equity Firm
Situation: The PE firm had made a major acquisition of a publicly traded U.S.-based global company operating across multiple divisions in the aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors. In order to fast-track its understanding of specific business units within the acquired company, the PE firm contracted HMC to deliver comprehensive insights into the company’s products, technologies, past growth strategies, and market positions. HMC's expertise was critical in guiding the PE firm's strategic decisions around growth, investment, and divestment opportunities.

Program Manager for New Product Development & Introduction
Situation: Initially targeting a production release in 2022, the client faced unexpected delays due to complications in technology development, COVID-19-related setbacks, and turnover within the team. HMC’s consultant was brought on board in January 2024 to guide the program through three critical phase-gates and facilitate the successful production launch of the four products.

Blue Tech Sector Fellow
Situation: The Blue Tech Sector, encompassing the maritime and naval industries, is a critical component of the U.S. economy and national security. However, the submarine industrial base faces significant challenges, including limited supply chain transparency, inefficient outsourcing practices, and vulnerabilities that compromise resilience. The 2024 Department of Defense Appropriations Bill highlighted these issues, emphasizing the need for a more robust and responsive supply chain.

Post Merger Integration Manager
Situation: A division of a $6B global company had recently acquired another company and was struggling to develop and execute an integration plan. The challenges included consolidating operations across multiple locations, including a facility closure and renovation, managing product line transitions, and implementing personnel change management. These transitions were crucial to maintaining business continuity, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery performance.
The client needed external expertise to support the post-merger integration, ensuring the merger was executed smoothly while minimizing risks to operations and revenue. HMC was brought in due to its deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions, program management, and change management, with a focus on collaborative leadership to guide the client’s internal team through the integration process.

Principal Investigator for Strategic Sustainability Initiatives
Situation: The client, a $900M+ global company with 33 locations, had committed to a comprehensive sustainability strategy as part of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. The CEO prioritized sustainability efforts in three key areas: energy consumption across global sites, the materials and components used in products, and product innovation to increase recyclability and reduce environmental impact.
HMC was brought in by the local Plant Manager to conduct three feasibility studies focusing on operational efficiency, waste reduction, and energy recapture to drive the company’s sustainability initiatives forward.

Interim Leadership
Situation: The client had been operating without a General Manager for an extended period and was approaching a merger with another company to form a new entity. Over the previous seven years, the company had cycled through eight General Managers, leading to high leadership attrition, low employee morale, and instability within the workforce. Faced with this turbulent environment, the CEO and COO selected HMC’s Principal Consultant as the Interim General Manager to stabilize the organization, improve morale, and guide the company through the merger transition until new leadership was in place.
